The Gift

“The Gift” is a four-foot tall bronze. The message of this piece is: We receive by giving: the woman gives the gift of the bird to the child, who gives the gift of water (represented by dichroic glass created for me by Darryl Berry), coming from the nautilus shell, to the bird; and finally, the child, representing new life, is a gift from and to the woman. The sculpture was commissioned by the Leidos company headquarters as it speaks to the company’s emphasis on “The Culture of Giving Back” and its historic people-first attitude that was set in motion by its founder J. Robert Beyster.
