Synergy

(Rider, Horse, and Falcon)

Prior to the creation of this sculpture I had been thinking about science and mankind and nature, and their relationships to one another when this concept appeared in my mind.   

 In this sculpture, two domesticated animals, the horse and the falcon, represent the harnessing of nature in order to expand the possibilities of humanity.  We travel farther and faster on the horse, and the falconer’s falcon extends our reach even further.  Here, the three are elevated, as the falconer’s horse stands, impossibly, on a pinnacle composed of geometric forms, which can represent the uplifting results of scientific achievement.
