Alfred Zeidel portrait plaque
This portrait plaque is on a new residential-building-and-Baptist-Church on Hillside Ave. in Manhattan, New York City. I’ve created scores of bas-relief portrait plaques over the years—for the Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame, the Alabama Women’s Hall of Fame, the Alabama Military Hall of Fame, and countless private, public and corporate clients—but I feel this one is the finest. The main reason being that I executed it in an atypical manner. Instead of having the portrait, script, and background sand-cast as one unit, I cast the portrait separately using the lost wax method, and then affixed it to sand-cast plaque. Yes, more expensive, but far better results.
