Troubadour
I had several sources of inspiration for this bronze guitar player: 1). After Orpheus dies in the film Black Orpheus, a little boy takes up his guitar and plays it, dancing & singing Orpheus's song--his art transcending his death; 2). The music of Django Reinhardt has the power to lift me up--learned when I heard it on my first day back in my studio after the 9/11 horror; 3). The Greek-Canadian guitarist Pavlo often strikes dramatic poses in performance; 4). The Troubadours, impassioned musicians, wandering the world to share their art, heart & soul--a metaphor for a sculptor, no doubt.
