run it down
This baseball player sculpture depicts a fielder, set off at full speed, after a fly ball that he has no chance to get, but then, looking up, there it is. Reaching out in full sprint and stretch, it pops into his glove. The game is saved. What a great feeling!
I have done four pieces inspired by baseball. All are about the essence and feel of playing the game. I sculpted them directly in wax for bronze casting, and I minimized detail and kept the forms thin to emphasize the movements, grace, and balance of the action.
