Django Reinhardt

This bronze portrait is of Django Reinhardt the great guitarist. The Belgian Gypsy’s playing was intense yet light-hearted at the same time.  He swung with a superb and elegant aplomb.  He played astonishingly fast runs and heavy pulsing chords with wit and emotion, always tastefully serving the music . . . and he did it with a crippled left hand!

In photographs he looks like a confident dreamer, partly in another world, utterly capable in this one.  That is the countenance I sought to portray.

Bronze.
